You are involved in many HWS activities.  Among sophomores, juniors and seniors:

 

9% have participated in student government.

11% have participated in a political club.

12% have been involved in performing arts.

7% have worked on the student newspaper or a campus literary magazine.

10% have been involved with other campus media such as radio or video productions.

11% have participated in a social action group.

45% have been involved in a volunteer service organization.

11% have participated in an honor society.

 

 

 

Academic pursuits among senior athletes:

 

15% have participated in faculty research projects.

35% have conducted independent study or research projects.

26% have participated in a study abroad program.

Two-thirds (67%) are planning to pursue a graduate or professional degree.

 

 

 

Health and well-being among all student-athletes:

 

Most (74%) get at least seven hours of sleep per night.

7 out of 10 believe tobacco use is never a good thing to do.

86% believe one should never drink to an intoxicating level that interferes with academics or other responsibilities.

The majority (66%) drink alcohol once per week or less often or do not drink at all.

81% never physically injure themselves or others as a result of consuming alcohol.

4 out 5 never drive in an alcohol impaired state or ride with an impaired driver.

88% never engage in unprotected sexual intercourse due to drinking.

 

 

 

How you spend your time each week (average hours) when your sport is in season:

 

31 hours for academic work

 

19 hours for athletics and exercise

 

13 hours for leisure activities (parties, video, games and TV)

 

4 hours for extracurricular clubs, volunteer service, and employment
