Dear HWS student-athletes,

We are very pleased to say that we are back this year with our Most Valuable Players Project highlighting the lives of student-athletes here at HWS. We are also pleased to report that the MVP project we ran from 2001 through 2003, much of which can still be viewed on athletic facility computer kiosks and related web sites, has been honored with a model program award and grant from the U.S. Department of Education. With this grant we are able to continue bringing you all kinds of facts about sports achievements, academic and social interests, and health and well-being of peers and athletic staff here. So keep checking out the “MVP E-bits” we will be sending you throughout the year.

Our first message is just a reminder about the MVP Survey of Student-Athlete Norms beginning this Sunday evening November 6th and continuing through Monday, November 14. Your participation in this anonymous online survey about student-athletes is crucial if we are to provide the best and most representative information about all student-athletes. Your coaches have the information about how to sign up. In previous years over 80% of all HWS student-athletes have participated. When you come to the computer lab to take the survey, be sure to pick up a Lexan Polycarbonate Sport Bottle as our “thank you” for your participation this year.

Best of Wishes,

Professors David Craig and Wesley Perkins

Don't forget to visit MVP Factoids on line in the computer labs and in kiosks in the athletic facilities as we post data from the survey.
