GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College senior guard Colby Feane (Weedsport/Weedsport, N.Y.) recently was named to the Liberty League Men’s Basketball All-Academic team for his academic and athletic excellence. He is making his second straight appearance on the All-Academic team.
A starter in 13 of the 14 games in which he has played, Feane leads the team in scoring (15.6 ppg), steals (27), field goals made (71) and three-point percentage (.434), while ranking second in three-pointers made (23). On Jan. 20, he scored a team-high 18 points at Skidmore to become just the 19th Statesman to surpass the 1,000-career point mark. Hobart’s captain had the hot hand in the opening round of the Comcast Marymount Challenge as he poured in a career-high 39 points to lead the charge in a 92-78 win over North Carolina Wesleyan.
A two-sport athlete, he played wide receiver for the football team. In 29 games over the past four seasons, Feane recorded 75 receptions for 890 yards and four touchdowns.
The economics major was also selected to the Liberty League Football All-Academic team the past two seasons. A Dean’s List student, Feane is a member of Omicron Delta Epsilon, a national honor society in economics, and the Druid Society, Hobart’s senior honor society.
To earn a place on the Liberty League All-Academic teams, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average and be at least a sophomore academically.
Hobart (8-9, 4-3 Liberty League) returns to action tonight at 7 p.m., when the Statesmen host Hamilton (14-3, 6-1) in Bristol Gym.
