GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart junior guard Colby Feane (Weedsport/Weedsport, N.Y.) recently was named a 2005 ECAC Division III Upstate Men’s Basketball Second-Team All-Star. Highly decorated this postseason, he earned second-team All-East from the NABC and first-team All-Liberty League honors.

A master thief, Feane recorded at least one steal in 24 games and made three or more 12 times, including a season-high six in the regular season finale against Vassar on Feb. 19. His 62 steals this season is just six shy of Hobart’s single season record set by Dave Rubin ’98 during the 1997-98 season. Feane led the Liberty League and ranked 36th in the nation in steals per game (2.48).

Feane also led Hobart in scoring (16.4 ppg), assists (3.04 apg), free throw percentage (.796), three-point field goal percentage (.491), and three-pointers made (2.24/g), and paced the conference in three-point shooting and ranked fourth in free throw shooting, fifth in scoring and three-pointers made, and eighth in assists.

At his best against the Statesmen’s toughest competition, Feane scored a season-high 25 points three times: at national runner-up Rochester on Dec. 8, against fourth-ranked St. John Fisher on Dec. 20, and at Rensselaer on Jan. 29. He made a three-pointer in 24 consecutive games this season, eclipsing the Hobart record set by Michael Gambino ’02 (21). With 829 career points, Feane is on the verge of becoming the 19th Statesman to record 1,000 career points.

Feane guided Hobart to a 16-11 record, the third highest win total in the program’s 95-season history. The Statesmen won the Liberty League regular season crown, earned an ECAC Upstate Tournament bid, and won the program’s first postseason game, defeating Plattsburgh 88-74 in the quarterfinal round. The 2005-06 Hobart basketball team will welcome back four starters and 11 letterwinners.
