GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart basketball team won its fourth straight game with an 81-69 victory over Union College this afternoon in Bristol Gym. Sophomore guard Mike Manning (Center Moriches/Mastic, N.Y.) led four Statesmen in double digits with 17 points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

The Dutchmen (8-8, 2-3 Liberty League) led by as many as nine in the opening half, but an 11-5 Hobart surge to end the opening stanza knotted the contest at 38-38 heading into the break. Junior guard Joe Virgilio (Wheatley/East Williston, N.Y.) keyed the run with five of his nine points.

The second half was a back and forth affair in the early going. Union took its final lead of the contest at the 13:12 mark on a three-pointer by junior guard John Cagianello (Loomis Chaffee/Wethersfield, Conn.). He led all scorers with 27 points, including five trifectas.

The Statesmen responded with a 10-0 run to take control of the contest. Junior guard Colby Feane (Weedsport/Weedsport, N.Y.) sparked Hobart with five of his 16 points.

Senior forward Joe Flacke (Schenectady/Schenectady, N.Y.) added 16 points and seven boards to the winning effort, while sophomore forward Mike Mastro (Jericho/Westbury, N.Y.) produced an outstanding all-around effort, 13 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists.

Senior forward Devon Bruce (Guilderland/Altamont, N.Y.) was the only other Dutchman in double digits (12 pts).

Hobart is back in action at 8 p.m., on Jan. 28, at Vassar.
