GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart basketball team held visiting Clarkson University to the lowest point total by an opponent since at least 1990, as the Statesmen ran past the Golden Knights 74-39 in Liberty League action. All twelve Statesmen played at least seven minutes, and 11-of-12 scored at least one point, led by the 16-point effort of junior guard Colby Feane (Weesdport/Weedsport, N.Y.).

Hobart (12-8, 7-3 Liberty) opened the contest with a 17-3 run and raced out to a 35-15 halftime lead.

The Statesmen lit it up from long range, draining 12-of-22 from beyond the arc. Feane connected on all four of his long distance attempts, one shy of the Hobart record (5-of-5, John Hatch, vs. Union, Feb. 15, 1997). Classmate Joe Virgilio (Wheatley/East Williston, N.Y.) sank 3-of-5 trifectas and finished with 14 points.

In fact, the Statesmen hit as many three-pointers in the second half (7-of-10), as the Knights recorded field goals.

Junior guard Chet Truskowski (Hammond/Hammond, N.Y.) led Clarkson with nine points off the bench.

Hobart returns to Bristol Gym, at 4 p.m., on Feb. 12, when St. Lawrence University visits Bristol Gym. The Saints fell to 6-16 (4-7) after a 91-60 loss at Hamilton tonight.
