GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart basketball team gave its four seniors a proper sendoff in their final regular season home game in Bristol Gym. The Statesmen posted a 70-48 blowout win over Skidmore College this afternoon.

Sophomore John Grazioli (St. Anthony’s/Melville, N.Y.) paced Hobart (10-10, 6-4) with a game-high 18 points on 9-of-12 shooting, while senior Tim Apuzzo (Greely/Cumberland, Maine) added 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds. Thirteen of the 15 Statesmen in the game cracked the scoring column.

Junior forward Mike Mastro (Jericho/Westbury, N.Y.) matched Apuzzo’s rebounding effort to help Hobart to a 48-29 advantage on the glass.

Senior Greg Gallagher (North Haven/North Haven, Conn.) was the lone Thoroughbred to reach double digits with 13 points. Gallagher and sophomore Jonah Haviland-Markowitz (Packer Collegiate Institute/Brooklyn, N.Y.) each grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

A 15-0 run midway through the first half put the Statesmen solidly in the control of the contest. Hobart led 28-17 at halftime.

Skidmore (4-16, 1-9) scored the first five points of the second half to get within six, but the Statesmen responded with an 8-0 run that pushed their lead back into double digits for good. Hobart led by as many as 28 down the stretch.

The Thoroughbreds 48 points are the fewest allowed by the Statesmen defense this season, while Skidmore sank just 17 field goals, also a season-low for a Hobart foe.

The Statesmen are back in action on Feb. 10, when they travel to Rensselaer. Tipoff against the Red Hawks is scheduled for 8 p.m.
