Bombers make early lead stand up for win over Statesmen

December 2, 2006

ITHACA, N.Y.—Hobart scored the first five points of the game, but Ithaca College claimed the lead seven minutes into the contest and never trailed again. The Bombers broke a 13-13 tie with a 7-0 run on their way to a 69-58 win over the Statesmen.

Junior forward John Grazioli (St. Anthony's/Melville, N.Y.) led Hobart with 19 points, eight rebounds, and two blocked shots, while senior guard Mike Manning (Center Moriches/Mastic, N.Y.) chipped in 13 points.

Sean Leahy paced Ithaca with a game-high 22 points, while Brian Joe and Sean Burton contributed 15 and 13 points, respectively.

Ithaca (2-2) and Hobart (1-3) both made 20 field goals in the contest, but the Bombers sank six threes to the Statesmen's four. Ithaca also excelled at the charity stripe, making more than Hobart attempted (23 of 31 vs. 14 of 21).

The Bombers never really blew the game wide open, but, at the same time, the Statesmen were unable to mount a serious challenge to Ithaca's lead.

Hobart is back in action on Dec. 5, when the Statesmen travel to Rochester. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
