GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College junior John Grazioli (St. Anthony’s/Melville, N.Y.) was named the Rochester Area College Athletics (RACA) Co-Male Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 19. Grazioli was instrumental in leading the Hobart basketball team to three wins in its last week of play.
A forward, Grazioli averaged 25.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game last week. He led the Statesmen past Hamilton with 28 points in an 87-86 overtime thriller on Feb. 13, before tallying a game-high 18 points and seven rebounds in a 69-62 win over Rensselaer on Friday. Grazioli went on to register a career-high 30 points with 11 rebounds in an 85-78 victory over Vassar the next afternoon. He shot 67 percent from the field on the week, including 56 percent from beyond the arch, and was 81 percent from the free throw line.
Also named the Liberty League Forward of the Week, Grazioli closed out the regular season as the conference leader in scoring (17.6 ppg), and ranked fifth in free throw shooting (.770) and blocked shots (1.4/gm). He also ranked 10th in field goal percentage (.498), and 11th in rebounding (5.7 rpg).
Hobart wrapped up the 2006-07 season with an 11-14 overall record and a 7-7 Liberty League mark under first-year Head Coach Izzi Metz ’98. The Statesmen ended the season on a high note, winning five of their last six games.
