GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart senior Mike Manning (Center Moriches/Mastic, N.Y.) was named the Liberty League Men’s Basketball Co-Guard of the Week for the week ending Jan. 7. He averaged 13.0 points and a team-high 5.3 rebounds in three games last week.

Manning scored 10 points and grabbed a team-high four rebounds in a 64-43 loss to St. John Fisher on Tuesday. On Friday at York (Pa.) College, he posted game-highs in points (18) and rebounds (9), while dishing out four assists in a 75-70 setback. During Saturday’s 73-66 upset of 11th-ranked Averett, Manning scored 11 points. For the week, he shot 45.5 percent from the floor and 66.7 percent from the free throw line.

Through the first 10 games of the season, Manning is averaging 14.0 ppg, 5.8 rpg, 2.2 apg, and 2.3 spg. He leads the team in rebounding and steals and ranks second in the conference in steals, seventh in scoring, and 12th in rebounding. In 86 career games, Manning has scored 920 points and is on pace to become the 20th Hobart basketball player to reach the 1,000-point plateau.

The Statesmen (3-7) are back in action tonight, when they host defending conference champion Hamilton College (7-2) in the Liberty League opener for both schools. Tipoff in Bristol Gym is scheduled for 7 p.m. Fans can follow all of the action online. Live stats can be accessed by clicking here.
