February 10, 2003 GENEVA, N.Y.Hobart College senior Joe Corbett (Haverford School/Philadelphia, Pa.) was named the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Forward of the Week this afternoon, marking the fifth time this season he has garnered the award. He averaged 21.0 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 4.5 assists in a 1-1 UCAA weekend for the Statesmen. In a 78-62 loss to Union, Corbett scored a team-high 21 points, on 9-of-15 shooting from the floor, and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. The following afternoon, he helped the Statesmen to a 93-85 double overtime win over Skidmore with 21 points, 13 rebounds, and a game-high seven assists. Corbett leads Hobart in scoring (18.8 ppg), rebounding (14.2 rpg), assists (3.1 apg), and field goal percentage (.558). With six games remaining, Corbett is just 105 points shy of Hobarts all-time leading scorer (Mike Massino 88, 1,663 points), and has pushed his rebounding record to 1,159, 192 beyond the previous mark. The Statesmen (8-11, 5-4 UCAA) return to action on Feb. 11, when the UCAA front-running Hamilton Continentals visit Bristol Gym. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. |
