Corbett receives D3Hoops.com accolades

March 19, 2003

GENEVA, N.Y.—For the second straight season, Hobart College senior forward Joe Corbett (Haverford School/Philadelphia, Pa.) has been named to the D3Hoops.com All-East Region first-team. The teams, which were announced today, are sponsored by D3Hoops.com, the definitive Internet resource for Division III basketball.

A two-time finalist for the Jostens Trophy (Division III Player of the Year), Corbett eclipsed the Hobart career scoring and rebounding records this season, completing a stellar career with 1,701 points and 1,249 rebounds. He also holds the Hobart records for field goals made in a career (655) and rebounds in a season (364 in 2000-01).

A three-time first-team All-UCAA selection, Corbett led the Statesmen in scoring (20.1 ppg), rebounding (14.4 rpg), and field goal percentage (.541) this season. His rebounding average is the best in the nation according to the latest NCAA statistics report. He recorded 69 career double-doubles, including 17 in a row to close out his career.

Corbett led Hobart to a 53-50 record over four seasons, making the Class of 2003 the first group of Statesmen to graduate with a winning record since 1991. In 2001, he helped Hobart tie the school record for consecutive wins, on its way to winning the UCAA Championship and a spot in the program’s first NCAA Tournament.
