March 24, 2003 GENEVA, N.Y.Hobart College forward Joe Corbett (Haverford School/Philadelphia, Pa.) continued to collect postseason hardware after a record-breaking career. Over the weekend, the senior was named first-team All-East by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and received honorable mention All-American accolades from D3Hoops.com. A three-time NABC All-East selection, Corbett garnered first-team honors in each of the past two seasons. He was also a two-time D3Hoops.com first-team All-East selection, and a three-time All-Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association first-teamer. Corbett led Hobart in scoring (20.1 ppg), rebounding (14.4 rpg), and field goal percentage (.541) this season. His rebounding average leads the nation, according to the latest NCAA Statistical Report. Hobarts career scoring and rebounding leader, Corbett finished his career with 1,701 points, 1,249 rebounds, and 69 double-doubles. An outstanding student and community member, Corbett was a two-time finalist for the Jostens Trophy, presented to the Division III Player of the Year, taking into account academics and community service, as well as basketball prowess. Corbett led Hobart to a 53-50 record over four seasons, making the Class of 2003 the first group of Statesmen to graduate with a winning record since 1991. In 2001, he helped Hobart tie the school record for consecutive wins, on its way to winning the UCAA Championship and a spot in the programs first NCAA Tournament. |
