Joe Corbett '03

GENEVA, N.Y.--Joe Corbett ’03, Hobart’s career scoring and rebounding king is continuing his basketball career professionally in Europe. The Philadelphia native signed a contract with BK Amager of the Danish First Division.

A four-year starter, Corbett garnered numerous awards, including being a two-time finalist for the Jostens Trophy (Division III Player of the Year) and three-time National Association of Basketball Coaches All-East first-team. Selected to the ECAC Division III Upstate Men’s Basketball first team, he earned first-team honors from the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association three times and was an All-East first-team selection by D3hoops.com. D3hoops.com and DIII News also named Corbett an honorable mention All-American.

Corbett finished his career with 1,701 points and 1,249 rebounds, producing 69 double-doubles in 100 games.

Corbett’s frontcourt running mate, Davidek Herron ’03 is scheduled to play with the elite AAU Akron Wingfoots. The Wingfoots are scheduled to play an 80 games schedule during the 2003-04 season, including 30 contests against American and Canadian universities.

A three-year starter, Herron was the second leading scorer and rebounder this year for Hobart, averaging 16.4 ppg and 8.6 rpg. The Schenectady native finished sixth on the career scoring list with 1,449 points. Herron was a three-time All-UCAA selection, earning second-team honors in 2001 and 2003, while garnering honorable mention in 2002.

Corbett and Herron helped Hobart to a 53-50 record in their four seasons, making the Class of 2003 the first group of Statesmen to graduate with a winning record since 1991. In 2001, they helped Hobart tie the school record for consecutive wins, on its way to winning the UCAA Championship and earning the program’s first NCAA Tournament berth.
