January 20, 2003

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College basketball team had two players receive weekly conference honors from the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association today. Senior Joe Corbett (Haverford School/Philadelphia, Pa.) was named the UCAA Forward of the Week, while first-year guard Colby Feane (Weedsport/Weedsport, N.Y.) garnered Rookie of the Week accolades in a 3-0 week for the Statesmen.

Hobart’s career rebound record holder, Corbett recorded his 53rd, 54th, and 55th career double-doubles, averaging 25.3 ppg, 16.0 rpg, and 5.3 apg, while shooting 79.5 percent from the floor and boasting an assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.7-to-1.

In a 92-77 win over Hilbert College on Tuesday, Corbett scored a career-high 34 points on 15-of-18 shooting from the floor, while pulling down 16 rebounds to raise his career total to 1,005. He also posted three blocked shots against the Hawks. The Statesmen opened UCAA play on Friday with a 79-66 win over St. Lawrence behind Corbett’s 17 points, 14 rebounds, and five assists. On Saturday, he torched Clarkson in the first half, hitting all eight of his shots from the floor and all six of his shots from the line. In the second half, he hit his only other field goal attempt, matching the Hobart record for field goal percentage (he was 8-of-8 against Rochester in 1999-2000), while setting up his teammates to the tune of seven assists.

Feane averaged 15.0 ppg, 3.3 rpg, and 2.7 apg, while shooting 61.3 percent from the floor, and 41.7 percent from beyond the arc (5-of-12). Against Hilbert, he scored 10 points on 4-of-9 shooting and handed out five assists. Against St. Lawrence, Feane recorded 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting, collected four rebounds, and grabbed four steals. Against Clarkson, he netted 17 points, knocking down 7-of-9 from the floor.

The Statesmen (4-7, 2-0 in UCAA) will close out a four-game home stand at 7 p.m., on Jan. 21, hosting Utica College in Bristol Gym. The game will be broadcast live on WEOS-FM (89.7/90.3) and online at www.weos.org.
