Corbett, Gambino named to ECAC Honor Roll

GENEVA, N.Y.--The Eastern College Athletic Conference recognized Hobart College basketball players Joe Corbett (Haverford School/Philadelphia, Pa.) and Michael Gambino (Our Lady of Lourdes/Hyde Park, N.Y.) for their standout play in three games for the Statesmen last Week. Corbett joins Gambino, who is making his second straight appearance on the ECAC Upstate Division III Honor Roll.

Corbett averaged 19.7 points per game and 7.7 rebounds per game against the University of Rochester, Ithaca College, and RIT. Against the Yellowjackets, the junior scored a team-high 12 points and tied for a game-high seven rebounds. The center notched his second double-double of the year with a season-high 25 points and 10 rebounds in Hobart's home opening win against the Bombers. He closed the week with 22 points and six boards against the Tigers. Corbett is third on the team in scoring at 15.8 points per game and second on the team in rebounding with an average of 9.0 per game. He was also named the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association's Center of the Week.

Gambino moved into 12th place on Hobart's all-time scoring list with 41 points last week. He knocked down 46.4 percent of his shots, including 41.2 percent from three-point range, and recorded a 3.5:1 assist-to-turnover ratio. Gambino scored six points and grabbed two rebounds at Rochester. The senior contributed 12 points, seven assists, and four boards against Ithaca. Against RIT he scored a game-high 23 points, including a 5-for-9 performance from behind the arc. Gambino is currently Hobart's second-leading scorer with 16.0 points per game and leads the team with a .400 three-point percentage. His performance earned Gambino his second consecutive UCAA Guard of the Week award.
