January 12, 2004 GENEVA, N.Y.Hobart junior Colby Feane (Weedsport/Weedsport, N.Y.) was named the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Mens Basketball Guard of the Week for the week ending Jan. 11. On Friday with his team trailing Hilbert by two at the half, Feane took it upon himself to take over the game. He scored all 19 of his points after the break to lead Hobart to a 70-67 win in Hamburg. Feane hit 6-of-11 from the floor in the second half after missing his first five shots in the first 20 minutes. He was also 6-of-7 from the charity stripe in the second halfincluding two crucial free throws made with 20 seconds remaining that gave the Statesmen a three-point lead. Feane handed out five assists against the Hawks, against just one turnover, and made two steals. Over the past two games, he is averaging 20.0 ppg and 6.0 apg. In eight games, including seven as a starter, Feane is averaging 10.3 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 4.1 apg, and 1.4 spg. He leads the team in assists, steals, and free throw percentage (.880, 22-of-25), and ranks in the top-10 in the conference in assists (2nd), free throw percentage (3rd), and assist-to-turnover ratio (8th, 1.33). Hobart is 4-5 and opens conference play on Jan. 16, when the Statesmen
will visit the Vassar Brewers. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. |
