Herron signs with German pro team

October 4, 2003

GENEVA, N.Y.--Hobart basketball alum Davidek Herron (Schenectady/Schenectady, N.Y.) recently became the second member of the Class of 2003 to sign a professional contract with a European basketball team. The 6-foot-6 power forward signed with SC Bayer of the German third division.

Herron was planning to play with the elite AAU Akron Wingfoots before signing with SC Bayer.

A three-year starter, Herron was the second leading scorer and rebounder during each of the past three seasons for Hobart, averaging 15.8 ppg and 9.0 rpg during that time. He finished sixth on the career scoring list with 1,449 points. Herron was a three-time All-UCAA selection, earning second-team honors in 2001 and 2003, while garnering honorable mention in 2002.

Earlier this year, Herron's classmate Joe Corbett (Haverford School/Philadelphia, Pa.) signed with BK Amager of the Danish first division.

Corbett and Herron helped Hobart to a 53-50 record in their four seasons, making the Class of 2003 the first group of Statesmen to graduate with a winning record since 1991. In 2001, they helped Hobart tie the school record for consecutive wins (8), on its way to winning the UCAA Championship and earning the program’s first NCAA Tournament berth.
