Hobart basketball hires new assistant

Joe Wojtylko

August 30, 2002

GENEVA, N.Y. – Hobart basketball Head Coach Rich Roche has hired a new assistant for the 2002-03 season. Joe Wojtylko is a 2000 graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in history and philosophy. An NCAA Division II institution, Wojtylko was awarded an athletic scholarship to play for the Bobcats with whom he earned Most Valuable Defensive Player for the 1998-99 campaign.

Immediately following graduation, Wojtylko put on the coaching hat for the Bobcats, helping to lead WVWC to its most successful season in 10 years. As the assistant, he coordinated all aspects of recruiting and supervised team academic affairs. He also put together a strength and conditioning program for the players.
Wojtylko will assist Roche with recruiting, scouting, and working with the big men during practice.

“We are pleased to have Coach Wojtylko join our staff,” Roche said. “He has an excellent basketball background. His enthusiasm and love for the game can only be an asset to our program.”

Wojtylko is a native of Ocala, Fla., where he attended Lake Weir High School.
