GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart first-year Mike Manning (Center Moriches/Mastic, N.Y.) was named the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Men’s Basketball Rookie of the Week this afternoon.

Manning averaged 10.5 ppg on 54.5 percent shooting in a 1-1 weekend for the Statesmen. At Vassar on Friday, he was nearly unstoppable offensively, scoring 12 points in just 15 minutes. Manning connected on 3-of-5 from the floor, including both of his three-point attempts, and hit all four of his shots from the charity stripe in the overtime win against the Brewers. The following afternoon he scored a team-high nine points on 3-of-6 shooting, including a three-pointer, and another perfect showing at the line (2-of-2).

In 11 games off the bench this season, Manning is averaging 7.8 ppg and 2.3 rpg. He is shooting 36.8 percent from the floor, including 38.1 percent from three-point range (8-of-21).

The Statesmen have posted a 5-6 record, 1-1 in the UCAA, and are back in action on Jan. 20, at Utica. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
