January 30, 2002 GENEVA, N.Y.Local youth will have an opportunity to experience NCAA Basketball and the college game-day atmosphere when Hobart College hosts NCAA Basketballs annual Take a Kid to the Game (TAKG) program, Feb. 2. Children, ages 12 and younger, are invited to watch the Statesmen take on Skidmore College in Bristol Gym. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. Admission is free for all fans. TAKG is entering its seventh year in the promotion of NCAA Athletics. The Take a Kid to the Game program is a wonderful opportunity to introduce the youth of our community to NCAA Basketball, Hobart Athletics Director Mike Hanna said. This is also a great chance for our school to gain some new fans. The Statesmen enter the weekends games with a record of 9-10, 4-4 in the UCAA. Hobart will host Union College on Feb. 1, at 8 p.m., followed by Saturdays matinee. The Take a Kid to the Game program is a national promotion of NCAA Basketball, the marketing arm of college basketball. NCAA Basketball represents a coalition of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics and the Conference Commissioners Association.
