GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart crew team captured the Liberty League’s first Boat of the Week award of the spring season. The Statesmen varsity four captured the award after defeating Division I Marist College on April 2.

In its lone home event of the season, Hobart’s varsity four shined, defeating the Red Foxes. The Statesmen crossed the line 19 seconds ahead of runner-up Marist. Senior Matthew Monbouquette (Moses Brown/Burlington, Vt.), sophomores Rob Reinheimer (Cheverus/Bowdoinham, Maine), Alex Caruthers (Bishop O’Dowd/Kensington, Calif.), and Nathan Kress (Ithaca/Ithaca, N.Y.), and first-year James Spalt (Tabor Academy/Barnstable, Mass.) covered the 2-kilometer course in 7:22.2.

Hobart returns to the water on April 16, traveling to Hamilton, for the Seneca Cup against Colgate University.
