GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College varsity eight was named the Liberty League Men’s Crew Co-Boat of the Week by the conference office this afternoon. It is the third straight week the Statesmen have earned the award.
On Saturday, Hobart finished second to Division I Colgate, but well ahead of third place RIT during a home race on the Seneca-Cayuga Canal. The Statesmen made a charge in the final 1,000 meters, pressing Colgate to the very end, but the Raiders held on for the win. Senior Dan Gilbert (Brighton/Rochester, N.Y.), sophomore Alex Tye (Kent School/New Canaan, Conn.), senior Gardner Loring (Middlesex/Duxbury, Mass.), senior JM Chadonic (The Lawrenceville School/New York, N.Y.), junior Sep Levatich (Ithaca/Ithaca, N.Y.), junior Mike Grenier (Brooks School/Methuen, Mass.), senior Tim Faxon (Salisbury School/Pelham, N.Y.), sophomore Richard Klein (Staples/Westport, Conn.), sophomore Drew Meunier (Shenendehowa/Round Lake, N.Y.) crossed the line in 6:17.63, just 0.43 seconds behind Colgate. RIT was more than 20 seconds off the pace.
Following a week off, Hobart returns to the water on April 29 in the Liberty League Championships.
