Hobart Novice 8+ named Boat of the Week

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College crew team earned its fifth consecutive Liberty League Boat of the Week Award this afternoon. The novice eight earned the league honor after coming in first out of 11 teams in the Syracuse Invitational last weekend, completing the race in a time of 17:29. Two Cornell boats took second and third place, while Syracuse finished fourth.
The novice eight was powered by Hobart first-years Harrison Goldberg (Brighton/Rochester, N.Y.), Richard Mable (Pomfret School/Pomfret, Conn.), Carmen Cimini (Newport Harbor/Newport Beach, Calif.), Matt Scanlon (McQuaid Jesuit/Fairport, N.Y.), Francis Craig (Walt Whitman/Bethesda, Md.), Steven Valchuis (Brooks School/North Andover, Mass.), Kenny Roden (West Potomac/Alexandria, Va.), William Bearse (Bridgton Academy/North Brigdton, Maine), and Matt Bruen (South Kent/Sherman, Conn.).
This was the final race of the fall season for the Statesmen.
