Hobart crew wins league award again
October 30, 2006
GENEVA, N.Y.—For the fourth week in a row, the Hobart College varsity eight has earned the Liberty League Boat of the Week Award, after winning the Head of the Fish Regatta last weekend for the third consecutive year.
Hobart covered the course in 10:09.39, besting runner up Wesleyan by more than six seconds (a team that beat Hobart at the Head of the Charles on Oct. 22). The Statesmen upstaged a field of 20 boats, including Division I crews from UMass, Rhode Island, Binghamton, Fairfield, and Albany. Senior Alex Caruthers (Bishop O’Dowd/Kensington, Calif.), senior Joe Jameson (Brebeuf Jesuit/Indianapolis, Ind.), junior Richard Klein (Staples/Westport, Conn.), senior Nate Kress (Ithaca/Ithaca, N.Y.), senior Sep Levatich (Ithaca/Ithaca, N.Y.), senior Rob Reinheimer (Cheverus/Bowdoinham, Maine), first-year Matt Scanlon (McQuaid Jesuit/Fairport, N.Y.), sophomore Michael Talarico (Falmouth/Falmouth, Maine), and senior Paul Wasmund (Fabius-Pompet/Fabius, N.Y.) powered Hobart to victory.
The Statesmen will close out their fall schedule on Nov. 4 when they compete in the Syracuse Invitational, starting at 10 a.m.
