Statesmen varsity 8+ wins Liberty honors again

GENEVA, N.Y.—For the second straight week, the Hobart varsity 8+ was named the Liberty League Men’s Crew Boat of the Week after winning the inaugural HWS Challenge on the Canal.

The Statesmen boat of senior Alex Caruthers (Bishop O’Dowd/Kensington, Calif.), senior Mike Grenier (Brooks School/Methuen, Mass.), senior Joe Jameson (Brebeuf Jesuit/Indianapolis, Ind.), junior Richard Klein (Staples/Westport, Conn.), senior Nate Kress (Ithaca/Ithaca, N.Y.), senior Sep Levatich (Ithaca/Ithaca, N.Y.), senior Rob Reinheimer (Cheverus/Bowdoinham, Maine), sophomore Mike Talarico (Falmouth/Falmouth, Maine), and senior Paul Wasmund (Fabius-Pompey/Fabius, N.Y.) put nearly a minute between themselves and their nearest competitors. Hobart posted a winning time of 14:55, followed by St. Lawrence (15:51) and Hamilton (15:58).

The Statesmen are back on the water Oct. 21-22, in the prestigious Head of the Charles in Boston.
