Statesmen earn Boat of the Week honors

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart varsity eight was named the Liberty League Men’s Crew Boat of the Week this afternoon by the conference office. The Statesmen, who won the conference championship over the weekend, have earned the award four times this season.

Senior Dan Gilbert (Brighton/Rochester, N.Y.), senior Gardner Loring (Middlesex/Duxbury, Mass.), senior JM Chadonic (The Lawrenceville School/New York, N.Y.), senior Tim Faxon (Salisbury School/Pelham, N.Y.), junior Mike Grenier (Brooks School/Methuen, Mass.), junior Sep Levatich (Ithaca/Ithaca, N.Y.), sophomore Alex Tye (Kent School/New Canaan, Conn.), sophomore Richard Klein (Staples/Westport, Conn.), and sophomore Drew Meunier (Shenendehowa/Round Lake, N.Y.) secured 12 points with an 11-second win over second place Union. Hobart covered the 2,000-meter course in 6:00.27.

The Statesmen are back on the water, May 6-7, in the New York State Championships in Whitney Point.
