Statesmen win 3rd straight Boat of Week award

GENEVA, N.Y.—For the third consecutive week, the Hobart College crew garnered the Liberty League Boat of the Week award. The Statesmen were seventh out of 58 teams in the Collegiate 8+ race in the Head of the Charles Regatta on Oct. 22.

Powered by senior Alex Caruthers (Bishop O’Dowd/Kensington, Calif.), senior Mike Grenier (Brooks School/Methuen, Mass.), senior Joe Jameson (Brebeuf Jesuit/Indianapolis, Ind.), junior Richard Klein (Staples/Westport, Conn.), senior Nate Kress (Ithaca/Ithaca, N.Y.), senior Sep Levatich (Ithaca/Ithaca, N.Y.), senior Rob Reinheimer (Cheverus/Bowdoinham, Maine), sophomore Mike Talarico (Falmouth/Falmouth, Maine), and senior Paul Wasmund (Fabius-Pompey/Fabius, N.Y.), Hobart covered the 3-mile course in 15:42.102. The Statesmen bested Liberty League rivals Rochester (27th), Rensselaer (49th), and Hamilton (58th).

A dramatic improvement over last season, Hobart moved up 19 places in the Collegiate 8+ standings. The Statesmen were 26th out of 41 crews in 2005.

Hobart is back on the water on Oct. 28, when the Statesmen compete in the Head of the Fish Regatta in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
