Hobart crew wins 13th league award

Liberty League logoGENEVA, N.Y.—The Hobart College crew team’s varsity eight was tabbed the Liberty League Boat of the Week today, after leading the Statesmen to the league championship over the weekend. This is the 13th time this season that Hobart has won this award.

Hobart’s varsity eight, powered by sophomore Cary Wasserman (Salisbury School/Salisbury, Conn.), junior Richard Klein (Staples/Westport, Conn.), senior Sep Levatich (Ithaca/Ithaca, N.Y.), senior Mike Grenier (Brooks School/Methuen, Mass.), senior Joe Jameson (Brebeuf Jesuit/Indianapolis, Ind.), senior Paul Wasmund (Fabius-Pompey/Fabius, N.Y.), senior Rob Reinheimer (Cheverus/Bowdoinham, Maine), senior Alex Caruthers (Bishop O’Dowd/Kensington, Calif.), and junior Drew Meunier (Shenendehowa/Round Lake, N.Y.), finished more than 17 seconds ahead of runner-up Union at the Liberty League Championships on Saturday. They posted a time of five minutes, 23 seconds, propelling the Statesmen to their second straight league title.

Hobart will be back on the water on May 5-6 when it competes in the New York State Championships, held at Whitney Point, N.Y. Racing is set to begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
