April 10, 2002 GENEVA, N.Y. – The Hobart College crew team opened the spring in impressive fashion in Ithaca on April 6. The Statesmen Varsity Eight soundly defeated Ithaca and Williams colleges with a time of 6:45.0, 17 seconds ahead of the Bombers and 22 seconds in front of the Ephs. The performance earned the Statesmen the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Crew of the Week Award. The Hobart varsity eight consisted of first-year coxswain Sarah Roberts (Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, N.Y.), junior Dave Undercoffler (Ithaca/Canandaigua, N.Y.), senior Tom Williamson (Mountain Lakes/Mountain Lakes, N.J.), sophomore Tyler Spence (St. Ignatius College Prep/Chicago, Ill.), sophomore Andrew Webb (J.E.B. Stuart/Falls Church, Va.), first-year Drew Bradylyons (Thayer Academy/Sharon, Mass.), senior Dan Morris (Berkshire/Katonah, N.Y.), sophomore Havilland Campbell (LaSalle/Philadelphia, Pa.), and first-year Vaughn Washco (Saratoga Springs/Saratoga Springs, N.Y.). The Hobart and William Smith crew teams’ race against RIT in Rochester
on April 13, has been moved to the Cayuga-Seneca Canal in Waterloo. The
Colleges will host the competition which is scheduled to begin at 11:30
