April 12, 2004 GENEVA, N.Y.The Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association named Hobart College freshmen eight its Boat of the Week this afternoon after capturing its second consecutive victory this past weekend. Covering the course in 7:08.69, the Statesmen soundly defeated visiting RIT by 18.64 seconds in their first home regatta of the season. The freshmen lineup included, coxswain Nick Hoagland (Millbrook School/New York, N.Y.), stroke Ben Draper (The Branson School/San Anselmo, Calif.), seventh seat Nate Kress (Ithaca/Ithaca, N.Y.), sixth seat Paul Wasmund (Fabius-Pompey/Fabius, N.Y.), fifth seat Joe Jameson (Brebeuf Jesuit/Indianapolis, Ind.), fourth seat David Drennan (Green Hills School/Ann Arbor, Mich.), third seat Robert Reinheimer (Chererus/Bowdoinham, Maine), second seat Alex Caruthers (Bishop ODowd/Kensington, Calif.), and bow Jared Desrochers (Shenendehowa/Clifton Park, N.Y.). Hobart returns to action at 10 a.m., on April 18, when Colgate visits Hellstrom Boathouse. The Statesmen will be looking to retain the Seneca Cup, the trophy awarded to the winner of the Hobart-Colgate varsity eight race.
