ROCHESTER, N.Y.–The Hobart College crew team opened the 2001-02 season with a strong showing at the annual Stonehurst Capital Invitational Regatta. In the heavyweight eights competition, the Statesmen A-team placed 16th overall and fifth against collegiate crews, while the B-team finished 26th overall and 15th against college crew teams.

The A-team finished with a championship time of 30:57.68, five seconds ahead of Ithaca's A-team. The B-team turned in a time of 32:59.53.

The Hobart crew team returns to action at the Head of the Skuykill in Philadelphia, Pa., on Oct. 27, to close out its fall schedule.
