Statesmen place 18th at Saratoga Invitiational

SARATOGA, N.Y.—The Hobart cross country team placed 18th out of 20 teams at the Saratoga Invitational last weekend, hosted by RPI. Two Hobart runners recorded season-best times in the race.

First-year Tom Harty (Portsmouth Abbey School/Norfolk, Mass.) was the top finisher for the Statesmen, completing the 8-kilometer course in a season-best time of 28:55. He beat his previous-best time of 29:07 to earn 118th place out of 203 runners.

Classmate Andrew Ockenden (Conestoga/Paoli, Pa.) took 124th place, while senior Mike Guglielmo (Northern Highlands/Allendale, N.J.) finished 145th. Guglielmo’s time of 30:02 was also a personal-best.

Hobart will return to action on Oct. 28 when it hosts the CCOC Championships, beginning at noon.
