November 1, 2003

GENEVA, N.Y.—The Clarkson University men’s cross country team dominated the field in the 2003 Heron Invitational. Golden Knight sophomore Sam Morse (Camden/Camden, N.Y.) was the individual winner, covering the 8-kilometer Seneca Lake State Park course in a time of 27:19.

Hobart College finished second to Clarkson (17 pts) with a team score of 59, while SUNY IT (79) and Paul Smith’s College (91) rounded out the team scores.

The first three runners across the finish line were Golden Knights, followed by first-year Gary Pereria from SUNY IT, then four more Clarkson harriers.

The Statesmen were led by senior Rob Middleton (Singapore American School/Vero Beach, Fla.), who finished ninth in 29:16. Sophomore Gauthier Giacomoni (Commack/Commack, N.Y.) was close behind taking 11th place in 29:48.

The Hobart cross country team is back in action on Nov. 8, in the ECAC Championship race in Grafton, Mass.
