October 21, 2002 GENEVA, N.Y.The Hobart College cross country team competed in the Harry F. Anderson Cross Country Invitational, hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College this past weekend. The Statesmen finished in 10th out of 13 teams in the competition. Cornell University took the top spot, scoring only 17 points. Leading the way for the Hobart harriers was Scott Thoms (Brooks School/West Chatham, Mass.) with an 8k time of 29:20 for a 60th place finish of 139 runners. Robert Portik-Middleton (Singapore American School/Vero Beach, Fla.) followed Thoms, crossing the line in 85th place with a time of 29:53. Drew Mosher (Harrisville/Harrisville, N.Y.) and Gauthier Giacomoni (Commack/Commack, N.Y.) both ran one of their fastest times this season, completing the course in 30:41 and 31:50, respectively. Rounding out the Hobart group were Sean Pelnick (Sachem/Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) and Max Zimmerley (Holliston/Holliston, Mass.) with their respective times of 33:14 and 35:38. The Statesmen will compete again on Oct. 26, at the Union Invitational, scheduled for 11 a.m.
