September 16, 2002 GENEVA, N.Y. The Hobart College cross country team made good strides this past weekend at the Pat Peterson Invitational hosted by Oswego State. Taking a combined 16 minutes off their times from the previous week, the Statesmen finished the day 12th out of 13 teams. Leading the pack for Hobart was sophomore Scott Thoms (Brooks School/West Chatham, Mass.) with an 8k time of 29:17. Following Thoms was junior Robert Portik-Middleton (Singapore American School/Vero Beach, Fla.) and sophomore Drew Mosher (Harrisville/Harrisville, N.Y.) crossing the finish line in 29:53 and 30:13, respectively. First-years Gauthier Giacomoni (Commack/Commack, N.Y.) and Malcolm Richardson (Gateway/Balndford, Mass.) paced each other, finishing the race in 32:06 and 32:20, respectively. Rounding out the Hobart squad was first-year Sean Pelnick (Sachem/Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) with a time of 33:53. The Statesmen will host the annual Hobart Invitational on Sept. 21, with the gun going off at 11:45 a.m.
