October 5, 2002 GENEVA, N.Y.The Hobart College cross country team traveled to St. Lawrence University this weekend to compete in the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Championships. The Statesmen finished the day in seventh place out of seven teams. The St. Lawrence Saints captured the mens title, with Saints harrier Matt Migonis (Hamilton/Hamilton, N.Y.) taking the top spot with a time of 25:25. Leading the Statesmen was sophomore Scott Thoms (Brooks School/West Chatham, Mass.) finishing the 8k course in 29:30 for 46th place. Only four spots behind him in 50th was junior Robert Portik-Middleton (Singapore American School/Vero Beach, Fla.) crossing the line in 29:49. Sophomore Drew Mosher (Harrisville/Harrisville, N.Y.) complete the course next for the harriers, running 30:38 for a 53rd place finish. Rounding out the top five for Hobart were first-years Gauthier Giacomoni (Commack/Commack, N.Y.) and Sean Pelnick (Sachem/Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) in 31:25 and 34:13, respectively. Hobart will run again on Oct. 19, at the Roberts Wesleyan Invitational. |
