GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College senior defensive end Chris Purtell (Pioneer/Sardinia, N.Y.) was named to the D3Football.com Team of the Week following a strong outing at Franklin & Marshall.
Purtell recorded a game-high 18 tackles, including eight solo, in a 35-14 road loss to the Diplomats (3-0). He also forced and recovered a fumble. His 18 stops are the most by a Statesman in at least seven seasons.
The Statesmen (1-1) return to action at 1 p.m., on Sept. 25, at Rensselaer. Hobart handed the Engineers (1-1) their only loss last season en route to the Liberty League Championship.
The game will be broadcast live by WEOS-FM (89.7/90.3 in Geneva, 88.1 in Ithaca) and online via the Hobart football Web page at web.hws.edu/statesmen/football/schedule.asp.
