GENEVA, N.Y.—The undefeated Hobart College football team held steady at No. 11 in the American Football Coaches Association poll this week, while creeping up one spot to No. 23 in the D3football.com media and sports information directors poll. The Statesmen also are the top pick in the Upstate New York Division III Football sports information directors poll.

Hobart improved to 7-0 with a 13-9 Liberty League win over St. Lawrence. Junior running back Doug Blakowski (Iroquois/Elma, N.Y.) rushed for 116 yards to surpass the 1,000-yard plateau for the season (1,018). None of his 24 carries against the Saints were stopped behind the line of scrimmage. Blakowski is eighth in the nation in rushing yards (145.4), 11th in scoring (12.0), and 18th in all purpose yards (168.3).

Sophomore linebacker Jeff Sanders (Camden/Camden, N.Y.) dashed St. Lawrence’s hopes of a comeback with his first interception of the year with just 67 seconds remaining in the contest. He finished the day with a team-high eight tackles. Sanders leads Hobart in tackles with 47 (26 solo). Thanks to a plus-five effort against the Saints, Hobart is seventh in the nation in turnover margin at +1.7.

Hobart is this week and returns to action on Nov. 5, when the Statesmen travel to Union. Kickoff at Frank Bailey Field is scheduled for 1 p.m.
