October 13 , 2004
GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart senior wide receiver Dan Suozzi (New Hampton/New Canaan, Conn.) was named to two more teams of the week following his record breaking performance against Coast Guard on Oct. 9. The Liberty League Co-Offensive Player of the Week was named the ECAC Northwest Offensive Player of the Week and the RACA Co-Male Athlete of the Week.
Suozzi caught eight passes for 161 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Statesmen past the Bears 31-2. With his second reception of the afternoon, Suozzi became Hobart’s career leader, passing Frank Fedorjaka ’89 and Nico Karagosian ’97 (141). With his second TD catch, he broke that career mark previously held by Nate Waye ’94 (17). With his final touchdown of the day, he tied the one-week old game record established by Rick Piñero (Smithtown/Hauppauge, N.Y.) against WPI.
For his career, Suozzi boasts 148 receptions for 2,287 yards and 20 touchdowns. A top notch return man as well, he leads the Liberty League in all purpose yards (145.2 yds/g) and scoring (9.6 ppg).
Hobart (4-1, 3-0 Liberty) returns to action at 2 p.m., on Oct. 16, at the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy-Kings Point. WEOS-FM (89.7/90.3) will carry the game live in the Geneva area and online at www.weos.org.
