November 9, 2006

Nolan Robinson

GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart senior linebacker Nolan Robinson (Johnson City/Johnson City, N.Y.) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District football team today. The chemistry major is one of the leading tacklers in the Liberty League this season.

Robinson is a three-time Liberty League All-Academic honoree and earned 2004 All-Liberty League honorable mention. He leads Hobart and is ranked eighth in the Liberty League in tackles this season with 60 (37 solo). The 2003 Liberty League Rookie of the Year, Robinson is the only active Statesman with more than 200 career tackles (231). The four-year starter and two-time team captain has led Hobart to a 30-9 record over the past three-plus seasons, including two NCAA Playoff appearances, two Liberty League Championships, and an ECAC Bowl Championship.

A standout in the classroom as well, Robinson has been named to the Dean’s List in each of the past two years. He is a 2003-04 Faculty Scholar, a 2005 Hobart Scholar, a 2005-06 Hale Scholar, and a current member of the Druid Society, Hobart’s senior honor society.

To earn a place on the Academic All-District teams, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average, be a starter or significant reserve, and be at least a sophomore in academic standing. The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) select eight Academic All-District teams and choose the Academic All-America teams from the eight District first-teams.

CoSIDA selects Academic All-America teams in 12 programs: football, women’s volleyball, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, baseball, softball, men’s track & field/cross country, women’s track & field/cross country, men’s at-large, and women’s at-large. A first-team, second-team, and third-team are selected in both the University (Division I and I-AA) and College (Division II, III and NAIA) Divisions.
