GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart College senior Doug Blakowski (Iroquois/Elma, N.Y.) and junior Dominick Ancona (Chaminade/Garden City, N.Y.) were both named to the 2006 Don Hansen’s Football Gazette NCAA Division III All-America Honorable Mention Team this week. Both were recently tabbed All-East by the same organization, after leading the Statesmen to an 8-2 record and an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.

A running back, Blakowski ran for 1,054 yards (105.4 yards per game) and scored a team-high 15 touchdowns this season. He wrapped up his career with 2,610 career rushing yards and 32 career touchdowns, including a three-touchdown, 132-yard rushing performance in a 19-14 win over WPI this season. A two-time ECAC Northwest Player of the Week in 2006, Blakowski was tabbed the Liberty League Offensive Performer of the Week three times, and named All-Liberty League second team.

A three-time Liberty League Special Teams Performer of the Week, Ancona led the league and ranked fourth in the nation with an average of 41.3 yards per punt. He also led the league in yards per kickoff with 51.8. Ancona was named first-team All-Liberty League, selected to the D3Football.com All-East second team and All-America honorable mention, and tabbed an ECAC Northwest All-Star for his efforts this season, which included a season-long 65-yard punt against Union.
