Blakowski '07 adds TD in Team USA win over Germany

KAWASAKI, Japan—Running back Doug Blakowski scored his second touchdown in as many games for Team USA as the Americans knocked off Germany 33-7 to advance to the gold medal game of the 2007 World Championship of American Football. The 2007 graduate of Hobart carried the ball seven times for 31 yards against Germany, raising his tournament totals to 70 yards on 13 carries with two TDs.

The United States (2-0) will meet tournament host Japan in the championship on Sun., July 15. The gold medal game kicks off at 2:10 a.m. ET. Live scoring updates will be available at usafootball.com.

The Japanese (2-0) blanked Sweden today 48-0 to set up the showdown.

The Americans jumped out to a 16-0 first quarter lead, but a second quarter interception returned for a touchdown cut that advantage to 16-7 by halftime.

Team USA added a third quarter field goal to make it 19-7. Blakowski scored from 1 yard out to put the game out of reach midway through the final frame.

A short time later, the Americans ran back an interception for a touchdown to close out the scoring.

A two-time honorable mention All-American, Blakowski ran for 1,054 yards (105.4 yards per game) and scored a team-high 15 touchdowns as a senior. He wrapped up his career with 2,610 rushing yards and 32 touchdowns.
