ALBANY, N.Y.—Former Statesman Rich Barlette ’01 was recently assigned to the Albany ConQuest of the arenafootball2 league. A defensive tackle for Hobart College from 1997 through 2000, he will play offensive and defensive line for the ConQuest.

A three-year starter for the Statesmen, Barlette was named an honorable mention All-American by USAFootball.com following his senior season. He also garnered first-team accolades from the ECAC and the UCAA that season, after helping Hobart reach the NCAA Playoffs for the first time in the program’s history. A native of Latham, N.Y., he twice earned the Tryon Football Award, presented to Hobart’s outstanding lineman, while finishing his career with 201 tackles, 10 sacks, 17 passes defended, four blocked kicks, four fumbles forced, and four fumbles recovered.

In the Statesmen’s postseason run, he recorded 20 tackles and 1.5 sacks. Barlette holds the Hobart postseason records for solo tackles in a game (seven), solo tackles in a postseason (12 in two games), and total tackles in a postseason (20).

“Rich is a young lineman who has shown a lot of upside and potential,” ConQuest Head Coach Ron Selesky said. “In the open tryout he showed a lot of the physical attributes that a successful two-way lineman would need, including flexibility, good change of directions, and up field explosion and burst.”
