January 20, 2004 Rich is a true asset to our team on and off the field and Im pleased he will return in 2004, Conquest Head Coach Steve Matthews said. In 2002, Barlette, 6-foot-4, 260-pounds, was a four-time Built Ford Tough Player-of-the-Game selection and blocked two kicks. He missed much of last season with a foot injury, but played in five games. A three-year starter for the Statesmen, Barlette was named an honorable mention All-American by USAFootball.com following his senior season. He also garnered first-team accolades from the ECAC and the UCAA that season, after helping Hobart reach the NCAA Playoffs for the first time in the programs history. A native of Latham, N.Y., he twice earned the Tryon Football Award, presented to Hobarts outstanding lineman, while finishing his career with 201 tackles, 10 sacks, 17 passes defended, four blocked kicks, four fumbles forced, and four fumbles recovered. In the Statesmens 2000 postseason run, Barlette recorded 20 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He holds the Hobart postseason records for solo tackles in a game (7), solo tackles in a postseason (12 in two games), and total tackles in a postseason (20). |
