November 18, 2002 GENEVA, N.Y.Hobart College sophomore running back Ty Godinho (Lancaster/Lancaster, N.Y.) was named the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week. He led the Statesmen to a 34-27 victory over conference rival Rensselaer on Saturday. Godinho rushed for a career-high 154 yards and a career-high four touchdowns against the Engineers. His four TD performance is the most rushing touchdowns by a Statesman since Keith Brandon 01 accomplished the feat on Oct. 25, 1997, at Alfred University. Godinho finished the regular season with 200 carries for 851 yards and 12 touchdowns, the most by a Statesman since 1996. He also finished third on the team in receptions with 23 catches for 192 yards and two touchdowns. Godinho led Hobart and finished second in the UCAA in scoring (9.6 ppg). Senior linebacker Tim Booth (Waterloo/Waterloo, N.Y.) was named to the UCAA weekly honor roll after recording five solo tackles, a sack, and a blocked punt. The Statesmen finished the regular season with an 8-1 overall record,
including a 4-0 mark in the UCAA. Hobart began the season with a seven-game
win streak, the programs best start since 1954. |
