GENEVA, N.Y.—Hobart junior running back Ty Godinho (Lancaster/Lancaster, N.Y.), the Most Valuable Player of the ECAC North Atlantic Bowl, was named the Rochester Area College Athletics Co-Male Athlete of the Week this afternoon. He shares the award with St. John Fisher quarterback Greg Roland, who was named the MVP of the ECAC Northwest Bowl.

Godinho rushed for a career-high 203 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries in a 34-18 win over Norwich University. He also caught two passes for 29 yards and another touchdown. On Hobart’s first possession, Godinho carried the ball six times for 43 yards and caught two passes for 29 yards, including a 19-yard scoring strike, capping a 10-play, 80-yard drive.

A second-team All-UCAA selection, Godinho finished the season with 1,077 rushing yards, the first Statesman to run for 1,000 yards in a season since 1998. He leads the UCAA in rushing (107.7 yds/g), rushing touchdowns (13), and overall points (88).

The Statesmen finished the season with a 6-4 record, including a 3-1 mark in the UCAA. League Champion for the second straight season, Hobart won its first ECAC bowl this year, after earning an NCAA Tournament berth in two of the past three seasons.

RACA is an association to recognize the outstanding achievements of student-athletes from the 10 Rochester area colleges and universities.
