September 16, 2003 GENEVA, N.Y.Hobart College first-year linebacker Nolan Robinson (Johnson City/Johnson City, N.Y.) was named the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Football Rookie of the Week. Despite a heartbreaking 17-16 loss on the road at Dickinson College, he turned in an outstanding performance in his Statesmen debut. Robinson finished second on the team in tackles with nine, including four solo. His nine stops also included one for a loss, and he broke up a pass. Hobart (0-1) led 16-7 heading into the fourth quarter, but the host Red Devils scored a touchdown midway through the final frame and kicked a 31-yard field goal with 14 seconds remaining to steal the victory. The Statesmen return to action at 1 p.m., on Sept. 27, when they host the Union Dutchmen on Boswell Field. The match up of league rivals has seen the visiting team win each of the past six meetings. |
