Suozzi continues to collect weekly awards

Dan Suozzi '05

October 23, 2003

GENEVA, N.Y.—Organizations have been lining up all week to sing the praises of Hobart College junior wide receiver Dan Suozzi (New Hampton/New Canaan, Conn.). First the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association named him its Offensive Player of the Week. Then Rochester Area College Athletics tabbed him the Co-Male Athlete of the Week, followed by the Eastern College Athletic Conference Northwest’s Offensive Player of the Week award. Add one more to the list.

D3Football.com recently announced that Suozzi had earned a spot on its National Team of the Week. D3Football.com is the premier source of online information about NCAA Division III football.

Suozzi enjoyed a record-breaking afternoon in Hobart’s 28-20 win over Franklin & Marshall on Oct. 18. He made 12 catches for 239 yards and three touchdowns against the Diplomats, breaking the Statesmen’s single game marks for receptions and receiving yards. The team’s top return specialist and punter, Suozzi added 65 yards on kickoff returns and averaged 37.2 yards on six punts, landing four inside the F&M 20.

Suozzi ranks among the best in the UCAA in all-purpose yards (1st, 163.4 yds/g), receiving yards (2nd, 108.8 yds/g), kick return (2nd, 22.9 yds/ret), punting (2nd, 36.2 yds/p), scoring (2nd, 7.2 ppg), and receptions (3rd, 5.6/g).

The Statesmen (3-2) are back in action on Oct. 25, at Alfred University (4-3) in a non-conference match up. Kickoff at Merrill Field is scheduled for 1 p.m. Fans in the Geneva area can listen to all of the action on WEOS-FM (89.7/90.3) or worldwide via the Internet at www.weos.org.
