October 21, 2003 GENEVA, N.Y.Hobart College junior wide receiver Dan Suozzi (New Hampton/New Canaan, Conn.) picked up two more weekly awards today. One day after being named the Upstate Collegiate Athletic Association Offensive Player of the Week, he was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Northwest Offensive Player of the Week and the Rochester Area College Athletics Co-Male Athlete of the Week. Suozzi enjoyed a record-breaking afternoon in Hobarts 28-20 win over Franklin & Marshall on Oct. 18. He made 12 catches for 239 yards and three touchdowns against the Diplomats, breaking the Statesmens single game marks for receptions and receiving yards. The teams top return specialist and punter, Suozzi added 65 yards on kickoff returns and averaged 37.2 yards on six punts, landing four inside the F&M 20. Suozzi ranks among the best in the UCAA in all-purpose yards (1st, 163.4 yds/g), receiving yards (2nd, 108.8 yds/g), kick return (2nd, 22.9 yds/ret), punting (2nd, 36.2 yds/p), scoring (2nd, 7.2 ppg), and receptions (3rd, 5.6/g). The ECAC is the nations largest athletic conference with 313 member schools in Divisions I, II and III, ranging from Maine to North Carolina. The ECAC awards football player of the week awards in four different geographic regions. RACA is an association to recognize the outstanding achievements of student-athletes from the 10 Rochester area colleges and universities. |
